FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oak Tree Books and Chinbeard Books are proud to announce that ‘The Tomorrow People: Children of the Evolution’ is now available. The book is written by sci-fi genre specialist Iain McLaughlin, best known for his work on titles for the Doctor Who and Blake’s 7 franchises.
‘Children of the Evolution’ is the second in a bi-monthly series of titles based on The Tomorrow People. The book is available to order now from Amazon and all good bookshops.
Synopsis
John, Elizabeth, Stephen and Mike find themselves facing a deadly attack, the origins of which stretch back decades and reach out beyond Earth.
John is fascinated by a forthcoming exhibition about human evolution at a major London museum, where Professor Marchwood seems to know more than he should. How has Marchwood gone from a derided joke in the scientific community to a genius in such a short time? And why is he so interested in telepaths?
Investigating these questions puts the Tomorrow People in danger and sends them across the planet to the roof of the world where terrors and surprises lie in wait for them…
A fan of The Tomorrow People from a young age, Iain McLaughlin began to see the series’ more thoughtful side as he got older: “Humanity is wonderful and creative and inventive but we are deeply flawed. The Tomorrow People isn’t just about us developing these telepathic abilities, it’s about us growing and becoming a better species.” He continues: “They’re an optimistic look at our future. And I’m all for a bit of optimism.”
‘Children of the Evolution’ follows Gary Russell’s ‘The First One’ — published in July. Four more books in this series remain, with titles penned by Nigel Fairs, Joseph Lidster, and Rebecca Levene & David Derbyshire. Gary Russell will complete this set with, the aptly titled, ‘The Last One’ in 2025.
Each book will focus on characters from throughout the Tomorrow People lineage, with characters appearing from the original series, the 1990s series, and also characters from the full-cast audio productions produced by our friends at Big Finish.
It was important to the team at Oak Tree Books and Chinbeard Books that everyone involved in this project was the right fit. “We wanted writers who were not only big fans of the show but also respected genre writers too,” says Barnaby Eaton-Jones, Commissioning Editor at Chinbeard Books.
‘The Tomorrow People: Children of the Evolution’ by Iain McLaughlin is available to order now from Amazon and all good bookshops.
