FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oak Tree Books and Chinbeard Books are pleased to announce that The Tomorrow People: Homo Inferior will release on November 28th. Writer Nigel Fairs (Doctor Who, Blake’s 7) returns to The Tomorrow People franchise, having previously written multiple audio plays for Big Finish — characters from which return in ‘Homo Inferior’. However, you don’t have to have knowledge of the Big Finish range to read this new adventure.
This is the third in a new, bi-monthly series of Tomorrow People novels, ‘Homo Inferior’ is available to pre-order now from Amazon and all good bookshops. Also available in hardback and on Kindle.
Synopsis
Two years after Jedikiah’s world-changing invasion of Earth, the Federation has started rebuilding their shattered empire. With most of the Tomorrow People away working on the new Trig, Carol and Robert are left here as the human race also gets accustomed to its new way of life.
Barcombe Hill, Robert’s home village, has been declared unsafe. When he and Carol investigate, they uncover something quite extraordinary…
Meanwhile, billions of light years away on the planet Barr-Byzhan, a young alien hears voices and is developing a peculiar relationship with nature. One day they wake up on an apparently deserted island, far from home…
Nigel Fairs recounts just how The Tomorrow People affected him from a young age: “Growing up slowly realising that I was gay, therefore different, demonised and illegal until I was 21, THE TOMORROW PEOPLE spoke to me. It celebrated difference. The Lab was a place of safety whilst the real world wasn’t.”
On the new book, the author adds: “Homo Inferior explores the emotional journey I went on, along with many other gay kids of my generation. And it’s also got monsters and jaunting belts and lovely Carol saying everything is going to be okay.” He continues: “I was 10 when I first met the Tomorrow People, about 40 when I held their creative reins for a while with Big Finish, and now, at 61, I’m still enjoying their company, lucky me!”
‘Homo Inferior’ follows Gary Russell’s ‘The First One’ (published in July), and Iain McLaughlin’s ‘Children of the Evolution’ (published in September). Three more books in this series remain, with titles penned by Joseph Lidster, and Rebecca Levene & David Derbyshire. Gary Russell will complete this set with, the aptly titled, ‘The Last One’ in 2025.
Each book focuses on characters from throughout the Tomorrow People lineage, with characters appearing from the original series, the 1990s series, and characters from the full-cast audio productions produced by our friends at Big Finish.
The team at Oak Tree Books and Chinbeard Books are thrilled that everyone involved in this project was the right fit. “We wanted writers who were not only big fans of the show but also respected genre writers too,” says Barnaby Eaton-Jones, Commissioning Editor at Chinbeard Books.
The Tomorrow People: Homo Inferior by Nigel Fairs will be published on November 28th in paperback, hardback, and Kindle. Readers can pre-order now from Amazon.
